Madison Capitols News Release

Madison, WI - For the first time in his USHL career, Sam McCormick (De Pere, Wis.) was awarded the CCM/USHL Forward of the Week honor. The 18-year old Ohio State commit was at the centerpiece of the Capitols' perfect 2-0 weekend.

He opened his weekend with a bang, scoring two goals in less than two minutes on Friday in a 4-2 victory over the Lincoln Stars, including the game winner on a beautiful setup from Alexandre Payusov. He also picked up an assist in the win.

Following his two-goal outburst Friday, McCormick followed it up with his third goal of the weekend, once again putting the Capitols ahead against his hometown Green Bay Gamblers. While McCormick's goal would not be the game winner, it gave the Capitols their first lead of the evening and third power play tally of the night. He also made it another three point night, adding a pair of assists as well to finish the two-game set with three goals and three helpers.

With his stellar weekend, McCormick now has a team-best eleven goals to go along with nine assists through the season's first 26 games. He is on pace to easily top his 15-goal total from a season ago.

McCormick becomes the first Capitol to win Forward of the Week honors since Freddy Gerard, his future Ohio State teammate, won the same award last January.

After a two-game weekend that saw Madison pick up a pair of thrilling victories over Lincoln and Green Bay, the Capitols will return home following the holiday break to play host to the Dubuque Fighting Saints one final time in the 2015-16 season on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7:05 p.m. Family Four Packs are back for this one, as a family can receive four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and four bags of chips for just $48.

Family Four Packs are only available when purchased in advance and will not be available on game day. To purchase yours, call (608) 257-CAPS (2277) or visit www.MadCapsHockey.com.
