The Green Bay Gamblers collected 1,425 pairs of mittens this past Saturday (12/19) as part of the team's annual Mitten Toss. The mittens were tossed on the ice when Gamblers team captain Sam Saliba scored a power play goal a little over 5-minutes into the game. All mittens collected are donated to children in need throughout Northeast Wisconsin.

Since 2009 nearly 10,000 pairs of mittens have been collected. The presenting sponsor each year has been Fox Communities Credit Union.

"The cornerstone of the Gamblers organization is giving back to the community that supports our team," says head coach Pat Mikesch. "I thank Fox Communities Credit Union for their continued support and the fans who graciously donate the mittens and gloves."

Also supporting the annual event is Saranac Glove, Aurora BayCare, WIXX and members of the Green Bay Preble High School HOSA and FCCA clubs, who assist with the clean-up and counting of the mittens.

The Gamblers will continue to accept mittens throughout the season. If you would like to donate a pair, please drop them off at the team store on game nights or the Resch Center box office on non-game days.

Upcoming home games include Monday, December 28, Tuesday, December 29, Thursday, December 31 and Saturday, January 2. To purchase tickets, list of promotions and start times log onto www.gamblershockey.com.
