McAllister Propels T-Bones to Series Victory

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Cody McAllister (3-2) allowed just one run over eight innings, leading the Kansas City T-Bones (18-12) to a 5-1 victory over the Schaumburg Flyers (8-21) and securing a series win Sunday at CommunityAmerica Ballpark

In front of 4,694 fans, Schaumburg didn't move a man into scoring position through the first six innings. McAllister's only blemish was an RBI double by Terry Mermer that scored Richard Mercado in the seventh. He exited after eight, surrendering just one run while scattering seven hits, walking one and striking out four.

Kansas City sent nine men to the plate in the first inning, seven against Flyers starter Alain Quijano (1-4), plating three runs on RBI doubles by Jacob Blackwood and Ray Sadler, and a sacrifice fly by Jim Fasano. Quijano retired just one of the seven batters he faced, surrendering three runs on four hits before giving way to the bullpen.

The T-Bones extended their lead to 5-0 with a two-run home run by Sadler in the second, and they added two more in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Rico Washington and an RBI single by Sadler, capping the scoring at 7-1.

Erik Hamren pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the T-Bones, striking out two.

Sadler finished a triple short of the cycle, going three-for-four with four RBI. Keanon Simon reached base in four of his five plate appearances, scoring three runs while stealing two bases.

Kansas City opens a three-game series at CommunityAmerica Ballpark Monday against the Lake County Fielders. The T-Bones send left-hander Brett Davis (2-2, 7.00) to the mound opposite Lake County right-hander Jake Ruckle (0-1, 4.80 ERA).
