June 20, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Lake County Fielders News Release

There was no late inning drama necessary for the Fielders today, who produced an offensive explosion with a 12-3 win over the first place Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, in front of an enthusiastic home crowd on Lindenhurst Health and Fitness Family Day at Carthage Baseball Field in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

Garry Bakker led the way with his best pitching performance of the season, going seven innings, allowing no runs and scattering six hits to earn the win and improve to 2-3 on the season.

Already up 5-1 entering the bottom of the eighth, the Fielders sent eleven batters to the plate, scoring seven runs and capped by a three-run home run by Joshua Short, to take command. Short's home run was his ninth of the season tying him for the lead in the Northern League.

The Fielders knocked around RedHawks' ace Chad Roades, who entered the game with a 1.44 ERA. In six innings, he allowed five runs on ten hits to take the loss, falling to 3-1.

Every Fielders' starter reached base at least once, as the Fielders fell one run shy of their franchise record for runs and hits in a game, set when they scored 13 on 19 hits against Joliet on May 30.

The Fielders are next in action Monday night, June 21st to take on the T-Bones in Kansas City at 7:00pm on 1220 AM WKRS.
