October 24, 2022 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release
Vancouver, B.C. - The WHL league office has announced that Giants defender Mazden Leslie has been named the WHL's Player of the Week. He's filled the stat sheet with a goal and five assists, including an assist on Saturday night's overtime winner in Victoria.
Leslie, the 10th Overall selection by the Giants in the first round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft, has established himself as a key cog on the Vancouver blueline. In 95 career WHL games, he has 35 points, as well as 72 penalty minutes.
So far this season, he has two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 11 games, which puts him only one point behind Ben Zloty (WPG) and Kevin Korchinski (SEA) for the WHL lead in defencemen scoring. Leslie has four multipoint games already this season, and is eligible to be selected in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
The Giants have now won back to back games, and had a 2-2 record this week. Leslie had points in three of those games.
