Mayhem Week at a Glance: Mayhem Hit Road for Three-in-Three

MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem will play three road games in three days starting on Thursday against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, as they try to climb in the SPHL standings.


The Mayhem split a pair of weekend games with Roanoke and the Huntsville Havoc at home. The weekend started with a 5-2 loss to the Rail Yard Dawgs. Roanoke jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Caleb Cameron scored to cut the score in half. The Rail Yard Dawgs then went up 5-1 before a late goal from the Mayhem. The Mayhem had two different two-goal leads in the game before Huntsville tied it late to force overtime. Mayhem forward Dylan Vander Esch scored his second goal of the game in overtime to give the Mayhem the important victory over the Havoc.


The Mayhem announced on Monday the signing of defenseman Brandon Parrone to a contract. Macon claimed the 25-year-old off waivers, after the Pensacola Ice Flyers placed him on waivers on March 9th. The Peoria, AZ native has one goal, six assists, seven points and a plus-17 rating over 38 games in his rookie season. Prior to his professional career, Parrone spent four years on the hockey team and two years on the golf team at the College of St. Scholastica of NCAA Division III. In four seasons for the Saints, he had one goal, 14 assists and 15 points over 97 games.


After a pair of home games, the Mayhem hit the road for three games this weekend. They take on the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs Thursday and Friday before traveling to Fayetteville to take on the Marksmen on Saturday.

After defeating the Mayhem on Friday 5-2, Roanoke fell 6-3 to the Knoxville Ice Bears on Saturday night. They are 2-2-1 over their past five games and 7-2-1 over their last 10 games. Over their past 10 games, they have scored 3.9 goals per game and allowed just 2.6 goals per game in that same time span.

The Marksmen continue to struggle, as their last win came on February 2nd against the Birmingham Bulls. In the 12 games since their last victory, Fayetteville is scoring 1.85 goals per game and allowing 4.70 goals per game.
