
Mayhem Travel to Pensacola for Lone Game of the Week

MACON, GA- After taking five of six possible points last week, the Macon Mayhem play just one game this weekend. The team travels to Pensacola on Friday night to take on the Pensacola Ice Flyers.
WEEKEND RECAP
The Mayhem opened the week with a win over the then-first place Pensacola Ice Flyers on Wednesday night. Troy Passingham made 32 saves on 33 shots, while Stephen Pierog and Dylan Denomme scored the two goals for the team.
The team followed up Wednesday's win with a hot start in Fayetteville on Friday, as they jumped out to a three-goal lead in the first period. After the Marksmen scored three goals in the second period to tie the game, the two teams traded goals in the third period. With the game tied, Max Cook scored on a breakaway in overtime to defeat the Mayhem 5-4.
They bounced back on Saturday, as they defeated the Knoxville Ice Bears 5-4. John Siemer's first goal since November 3 was the game-winning goal. Stephen Pierog also scored two goals to give him three goals and five points in the three games. Stathis Soumelidis also tallied five points on the week, including two goals.

Pensacola bounced back in their last game, as they came from behind to defeat the Huntsville Havoc 4-3 in a shootout. That game ended a four-game losing streak for the Ice Flyers, as they moved to 8-4-0 after starting out the season 7-0-0. With starting goaltender and reigning SPHL Most Valuable Player Sean Bonar on loan to the Atlanta Gladiators, the Ice Flyers have allowed 21 goals over their last six games. Despite that stretch, they still rank first in the SPHL in goals against per game at 2.25. They have struggled to score, however, as they score just 3.17 goals per game - eighth in the league.
