
Mayhem Tops Columbus in OT

Alexandre Labonte's unassisted goal at 2:01 of overtime lifted the Macon Mayhem to a 3-2 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths in a matinee affair in Columbus on Tuesday.
Labonte picked up a loose puck and moved in alone on Columbus goaltender Shannon Szabados. He notched his second goal of the season, and the team's first overtime and first road win.
The win improves the Mayhem to 2-2-2. Columbus remains winless at 0-3-3. Macon wrapped up a two game road swing earning three of a possible four points in the Southern Professional Hockey League Standings.
Joshua Ranalli opened the scoring for the Mayhem at 6:25 of the second period. But Columbus struck back twice on two goals by Louis Belisle, to take a 2-1 lead.
Defenseman Mike Montrose got his first goal of the season at 2:50 of the second period. It became a battle of goaltenders from there on out. Macon's Garrett Bartus outdueled Szabados the rest of the way, stopping 41 of the 43 shots he faced. Szabados turned away 27 of the 30 Mayhem shots she faced.
The Mayhem get back in action starting a four game homestand facing the Mississippi RiverKings Friday at the Macon Coliseum.
