Macon Mayhem News Release
The Macon Mayhem's recent scoring woes continued Sunday night in a 4-1 loss to the Huntsville Havoc in Huntsville. The Mayhem has scored a total of five goals in the last five games.
Former Mayhem player Josh Ranalli opened the scoring for Huntsville just under five minutes into the game. Daniel Gentzler tied the game with his 10th goal of the season at 18:03 of the first period. The deadlock lasted only 59 seconds however, as Ranalli scored his second goal of the game at 19:03.
Scott Henegar's goal midway through the second period stretched the lead to 3-1. And in the continuation of another recent trend, Huntsville's Stuart Stefan scored into an empty net as the Mayhem pulled goaltender Curtis Martinu in favor of an extra attacker. Martinu turned aside 25 of the 28 shots he faced. It was the 10th empty net goal the Mayhem has surrendered this year.
Prior to the game, the Mayhem added goaltender Louie George, filling the void created with Garrett Bartus' loan to the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL.
The Mayhem returns home to face Pensacola on Friday and Saturday.
