Macon Mayhem News Release
MACON, GA - The Mayhem have claimed former Quad City Storm defenseman Alex D'Oliveira off of waivers.
D'Oliveira (26) started the season with the Peoria Rivermen, where he suited up for just one game before being placed on waivers. He was then promptly signed to a three-game tryout by the rival Quad City Storm, where he earned a full-time spot on the roster after completing those tilts. The Georgetown, ON native led Quad City with a +3 rating and registered three assists in his last three games before his release from the Storm.
"Alex is a solid defenseman who thrives in playing a simple game," Mayhem Head Coach Ryan Michel said. "I'm excited to see what he brings to our group with this opportunity."
D'Oliveira will make his Mayhem debut in Evansville on Friday night when the team takes on the Thunderbolts. He is expected to sport the #3. Friday's road game at the Ford Center will be followed by a home stint with the Fayetteville Marksmen on Saturday at the Macon Centreplex. Saturday's game is Teacher Appreciation Night; school faculty will be granted $10 admission by presenting a valid ID at the box office.
