Macon Mayhem News Release
MACON, GA- Mark Rivera scored his fourth goal of the season in overtime to beat the Fayetteville FireAntz 3-2 in overtime.
Fayetteville came out of the gates flying in the first, as they outshot the Mayhem 11-8 in the period and had a 1-0 lead. Bobby Chaumont scored with 6:07 left in the period to give them the lead.
The second period started with a bang, as Stathis Soumelidis and Brad Drobot squared off at the opening faceoff of the period. That got the momentum rolling in favor of the Mayhem, as they scored two goals in the period to take 2-1 lead. Dennis Sicard scored both goals for the team, with the first one coming off of a bounce into the slot with 17:34 left in the period. With just under seven minutes left in the second, Sicard scored his second of the game off of a great pass from Soumelidis to give the Mayhem a 2-1 lead.
Through 17 minutes, neither team scored in the third period until Tayler Thompson scored for the FireAntz to tie the game 2-2. That lead would hold for the rest of the third, and the game went into overtime.
With just under one minute left in overtime, Mark Rivera scored off of an assist from John Siemer to win the game 3-2.
