Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (Dec. 3, 2016) - The Pensacola Ice Flyers (5-5-4) mounted a late comeback before eventually falling to the Mississippi RiverKings (10-5-0) 2-1 in a shootout inside the Landers Center on Saturday Night.
The game was scoreless for nearly 45 minutes but the RiverKings took the 1-0 lead 4:14 into the third period when Robert Lindores netted a power play goal. The Ice Flyers tied the game up a little over 10 and a half minutes later when John Gustafsson scored his third goal of the season with 4:08 left in regulation.
The game headed to overtime after finishing regulation tied 1-1. The extra five minutes didn't settle anything so we were forced to head to a shootout. Maxime St-Cyr connected for the Ice Flyers while Dillan Fox and Joe Sova scored for Mississippi to secure the win for the RiverKings.
Zenzola stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced from Mississippi and his record moved to 3-2-3 on the season.
The Ice Flyers have only one game next week. On Friday, Dec. 9, they'll travel to Macon, Ga. to face the Macon Mayhem for the first time in the 2016-17 season. The game will take place inside the Macon Coliseum at 6:35 p.m. Central. Fans interested in watching the game can do so at SPHLLive.com.
