ICYMI: Keston Hiura had a career high four hits and Dallas Carroll drove in a career high four runs as the Mudcats defeated the Wood Ducks 9-6 in front of a crowd of 5,464 at Five County Stadium on Friday night. The Carolina offense totaled 14 hits and scored nine runs in the series opening victory over the visiting Wood Ducks. Hiura had four of the 14 total hits, while Ryan Aguilar, Carroll, Weston Wilson and Luis Aviles Jr. all had two hits apiece as well.

ABOUT THE LAST ONE: The Carolina offense set new season highs for runs (9) and hits (14) at Five County Stadium last night... The Carolina bullpen (Miguel Sanchez, Alec Kenilvort and Luke Barker) did not issue walk last night. It was the second straight and fifth time overall this season that the Carolina bullpen did not walk a batter in a game.

VS. WOODIES: The Mudcats and Wood Ducks face off tonight in game two of a three game series at Five County Stadium. The Mudcats took last night's series opener 9-6 and now trail the Wood Ducks 3-1 in the overall season series. Tonight's game is the fifth of 23 meetings between the two teams this season... Keston Hiura is batting .529/.579/.706 (9-for-17, 5 R, 3 RBI) with a 1.285 OPS over four games against the Wood Ducks this season. Luis Aviles Jr. is batting .438/.412/.500 (7-for-16) in four games versus Down East. Weston Wilson is batting .438/.471/1.125 (7-for-16, 1 3B, 3 HR, 5 RBI) in four games versus Down East.

MUDCATS STARTER: RHP Trey Supak has tonight's game two of three start against the visiting Wood Ducks. Supak enters tonight's outing at 1-0 with a 1.78 ERA and 26 strikeouts over 25.1 innings pitched and five starts so far this season. Supak is currently 4th in the Carolina League in earned run average (1.78), tied for 7th in WHIP (1.07) and 7th in average against (.198). He took a no-hitter through the fourth his last time out on April 29 in Kinston against the Wood Ducks. He later lost the no-hit bid at the start of the fifth after giving up a leadoff single to Chuck Leblanc. Supak then allowed his first runs of the game in the sixth after giving up a three-run home run to Anderson Tejeda. In all, Supak struck out eight, walked two and allowed three runs on just two hits over 5.1 innings while suffering his first loss of the season his last time out.

OPP STARTER: RHP Walker Weickel has the start for the Wood Ducks tonight at Five County Stadium. Weickel is currently 0-2 with a 6.50 ERA and 28 strikeouts over 18.0 innings and four starts this season. He totaled 12 of those 28 strikeouts his last time on April 28 against the Mudcats. Weickel did not earn a decision his last time out, but finished with 12 strikeouts, no walks and three runs on five hits over 6.2 innings pitched against Carolina.

STRUGGLING LATE: Mudcats pitchers have combined to pitch to a 8.31 ERA (20 R, 16 ER, 19 BB, 17 SO) in the ninth inning so far this season. They have also pitched to a 6.52 ERA in the eighth and a 3.58 ERA in the seventh... Conversely, the Carolina pitching staff owns a 3.23 ERA from the 1st through 5th innings this season.

P.O.W.: Weston Wilson was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for the week ending on April 29. Wilson hit .412/.500/.1.059 and led the Carolina League in OPS (1.559), slugging and home runs (3) during the last week of games running from April 23 through April 29... Ryan Aguilar also won the award the week prior for the week ending on April 22.

WALK THIS WAY: The Mudcats pitching staff has combined to walk a Carolina League and Minor League Baseball high 141 batters so far this season. Carolina is also second in MiLB in BB/9 (5.35) having walked 141 over 28 games and 237.2 innings this season. Only the Great Lakes Loons (Low-A, Midwest League) have a higher BB/9 (5.57) than the Mudcats so far this season (132 BB, 213.1 IP).

HITS AND Ks: The Carolina offense has totaled 57 more strikeouts than hits (279 SO, 222 H) so far this season. Since 1991, only the 2017 Mudcats and 2007 Mudcats finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. Carolina totaled 164 more strikeouts than hits last season (1,245 SO [franchise record], 1,081 H) and 70 more strikeouts than hits in 2007 (1,219 SO, 1,149 H).

Max McDowell leads CL catchers in most caught steals (17) and caught stealing efficiency (.531).

GOT HEEEM: Max McDowell leads MiLB catchers in most caught steals (17) and caught stealing/stolen base efficiency (.531) for catchers with at least 20 attempts against... McDowell caught four base runners attempting to steal and picked off another at first on Opening Night, 4/5 vs. Winston-Salem. He and the Mudcats also allowed six stolen bases on 4/19 vs. BC.

ALUMNI REPORT: Wendell Rijo (2017) went 3-for-3 with two home runs and three RBI for Double-A Biloxi in last night's 6-4 victory versus the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp... Lucas Erceg (2017) went 2-for-5 with a 2-run home run and two RBI in last night's victory for Double-A Biloxi.
