Last night's series opener between the Mudcats and Potomac Nationals was postponed because of rain. The two clubs will now open their three game series with a doubleheader tonight at Pfitzner Stadium in Woodbridge, VA. The Nationals enter tonight's game at 19-16 and are currently in second place in the Carolina League Northern Division. Potomac is 5.0 games back of first place Lynchburg and has won two straight games... Carolina comes in at 15-21 this season and sits in third place behind both the Salem Red Sox and Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Southern Division standings. The Mudcats are 11.5 games out of first and have lost three straight.
RHP Enderson Franco takes the mound for the Mudcats in game one of tonight's doubleheader in Potomac against the Nationals. Franco last pitched on 5/12 against the Nationals at Five County Stadium and matched a career high after pitching through 7.0 full innings. He allowed just two earned runs on five hits his last time out and struck out four while turning in his second quality start of the season. Franco comes in at 3-1 with a 6.09 ERA over seven starts so far this season. He won three straight starts between 4/22 and 5/7 and is 3-0 with a 3.58 ERA over his last five starts... RHP Zach Quintana will head out for the game two start and his second spot start of the season for Carolina tonight. Quintana's first start came on the road in Wilmington on 4/11 after the Mudcats and Blue Rocks played a doubleheader the day prior. Quintana allowed three earned runs (four total) and eight hits over four and 1/3 innings in his first start and is 1-3 with a 4.76 ERA overall this season. He allowed two home runs in the 10th inning in his only appearance against the Nationals this season on 5/11 in Zebulon (1.0ip, 3h, 4r, 4er, 1bb, 2so).
Tonight's game begins at 7:00 p.m. at Five County Stadium in Zebulon, NC and will air on the Mudcats Radio Network with the pregame show beginning at 6:45 p.m.
