Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA-- The High Desert Mavericks added to their league-leading home run totals, snapping Rancho Cucamonga's four-game winning streak on Thursday night, defeating the Quakes by a score of 8-3 at LoanMart Field.

High Desert smacked three home runs, all off Quakes' reliever Tommy Bergjans, who suffered the defeat on Thursday evening.

The Quakes got an early run in support of Dodgers' rehabbing lefty Brett Anderson, as Erick Mejia and Michael Ahmed had back-to-back doubles against Mavs' starter Adam Quintana, with Mejia scoring to make it 1-0.

Anderson went three innings in his first appearance since back surgery earlier in the year, allowing one run while scattering five hits. The Mavs got their one and only run off Anderson in the third, as Scott Heineman doubled and scored on a Juremi Profar RBI single, making it a 1-1 game.

Heineman untied it in the fifth against Bergjans, as his first of two homers made it a 2-1 game.

Bergjans gave up a solo shot to Jairo Beras in the seventh, then another to Heineman in the eighth, just moments after Matt Beaty's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh brought Rancho to within a run. Heineman's second of the game and 13th of the year made it a 4-2 game.

The Mavs opened it up with four unearned runs off Bergjans (2-11) in the ninth, taking a commanding 8-2 lead.

The Quakes got another RBI hit from Beaty in the last of the ninth, as his third hit of the game, an RBI double, scored Ahmed to round out the scoring at 8-3.

Quintana (4-4) earned the win for High Desert, as he allowed just one run on eight hits over 5.2 innings.

The Quakes (19-15, 61-43) will look to get back on track on Friday night, as they send Felipe Gonzalez (2-4) to the mound against David Ledbetter (4-7) at 7:05pm.
