Windsor Spitfires News Release
Some nights, it's just not going to work out. Saginaw goalie Mavric Parks made sure it didn't tonight for the Spitfires.
Needing a win to set up a Saturday showdown in Michigan for the division title, 6,499 instead witnessed a brilliant, 42-save performance, in a 5-0 Spirit win over the hometown Spitfires in the season's final home game on Thursday.
The win boosted Parks' record to 4-1 against Windsor this season - a five-game span in which he has given up just 9 goals.
Peter Hermenegildo had a goal and two assists and four other Spirit had a goal apiece as Saginaw increased its lead over Windsor to five points with just two games to play.
The Spits went 0-for-6 on the power play and are now 1-for-21 this month with the extra man.
Michael Nishi replaced Jack Campbell in the third period, after he made 27 saves on 32 shots.
The Spits are on the way to Michigan and will arrive in the Soo tomorrow for a matchup with the Greyhounds.
Windsor now sits in fifth in the Western Conference, courtesy of a 7-6 Erie win in Sarnia tonight.
