Mid-Missouri Mavericks News Release
Columbia, Missouri - Richmond's winning streak ended on Thursday night with a 3-2 loss to the Mid-Missouri Mavericks. The Roosters had a one-run lead after eighth innings, but the home team managed to get a run in the ninth and tenth innings for the win.
The game remained tied until the top of the sixth when Richmond's batters worked four walks off Pete Eberhardt to score a run and take a 1-0 lead. The Mavericks tied it up in the seventh on a single by Alex Derhak, but Mike Reese led of the eighth with solo home run to left center to retake the lead at 2-1.
That was the score in the bottom of the ninth when a run scored for the Maverick on a wild pitch by Hunter Davis to tie the game for the second time. That would force extra innings to decide the outcome. The Roosters were held scoreless in the top of the tenth despite a lead-off walk by Reese. Mid-Missouri wasted no time by getting a RBI single by Thomas Bowker with one-out to send the Mavericks to the victory and snapping Richmond's four-game win streak. Adam Varteressian (7-1) was dealt his first loss of the season.
The Roosters and Mavericks will wrap up the series on Friday at 7:05 p.m. (Indiana time). Dan Caldwell (1-3. 3.15 ERA) will make the start for Richmond after missing one month due to an injury.
