INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Missouri Mavericks announced Thursday the Central Hockey League (CHL) club has signed forward Andrew Favot and goaltender Jakub Macek. The Mavericks have also placed forward Ryan Jardine on the 30-day injured reserve.

Favot, pronounced FAV-it, is in his rookie season and played the majority of this season with the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. The King City, Ontario native played in a total of 30 games this season in the ECHL with Utah (23) and Reading (7) and had nine points on a pair of goals and seven assists. The 23-year old, started his pro career at the end of last season when he was picked up by the ECHL's Elmira Jackals and he played in a total of nine games including playoffs and had five points (1-45). Prior to turning pro, the 5-foot-7, 165-pound forward played four seasons at Rochester Institute of Technology where he led the team in scoring his senior season last year in which he had 43 points (13-3043) in 36 games played.

"In losing Ryan Jardine for an extended period of time, we went searching for someone who could add a little offense to deepen our scoring at the forward position," said Mavericks' Head Coach Scott Hillman. "Andrew is a guy who plays with composure and he will add to our power play."

Macek, 24 (6/25/87), returns to the Mavericks after playing for Missouri during training camp. A native of Bratislava, Slovakia, Macek enters his first professional season in North America. The 6-foot-0, 172-pound netminder played his first four pro seasons in Hungary, France and Slovakia and had his best season in 2008-09 with the Rapaces de Gap. During that season, Macek registered a 2.27 goals-against average (GAA) in 20 games during the regular season and a 2.87 GAA in six games in the playoffs. Prior to turning pro, Macek played for HC Slovan Bratislava in the U20 and U18 leagues in Slovakia. He also represented his country in 2007 in the U20 World Junior Championship.

"We had such a tough decision in training camp, but Jakub is a great competitor and we believe he gives us a second goalie who can win hockey games," said Hillman. "We are excited to give him his first chance in North America. He has a great attitude and he deserves this opportunity."

The Mavericks will play a home-and-home series this weekend with the Bloomington Blaze starting on Friday, January 20 in Bloomington. Missouri will return home on Saturday, January 21 to start a season-long seven game home stand at Independence Events Center.
