Kansas City Mavericks News Release
ANCHORAGE, AK - The Missouri Mavericks announced Friday afternoon that Trevor Ludwig will wear the "C" as captain for the Mavs 2015-16 season. Andrew Courtney and Kane Lafranchise will wear "A"s as the team's alternate captains.
"We are very fortunate to have so many quality leaders on this team, that the decision of which three would wear letters this season was very difficult, but that is a good problem to have," said Richard Matvichuk, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Missouri Mavericks.
"Trevor, Andrew, and Kane have stood out as leaders on and off the ice from the moment they arrived for camp. I am proud of each of them for what they've accomplished and how they are regarded by their teammates."
This is Trevor Ludwig's first season with the Missouri Mavericks, having been acquired by the team in a trade with the Allen Americans (ECHL) just last week. Trevor wore an "A" for the Allen Americans during their 2014-15 Kelly Cup Championship season.
Andrew Courtney is a long-time fan favorite, having played his entire professional career in a Mavs sweater, and is entering his fifth season with the team. Courtney wore an "A" for the Mavericks during their 2014-15 season.
Kane Lafranchise split his 2014-15 season with the Utica Comets (AHL) and the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL). Lafranchise wore an "A" for the Alaska aces during their 2013-14 season.
The Missouri Mavericks open their season tonight against the Alaska Aces at the Sullivan Arena in Anchorage, AK at 10:15p.m. (CT). Fans can watch all the hockey action live through ECHL.TV or listen to the broadcast online at MissouriMavericks.com.
The Mavs play their home-opener on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 7:05p.m. (CT) at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence, MO. Tickets are still available online at TicketMaster.com and in-person at the arena box office.
The Mavericks will play longtime rival, the Wichita Thunder, in their home-opener on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Single-game tickets, Mini Pack Plans and Group Tickets are on sale now! Visit TicketMaster.com or call the Missouri Mavericks at 816-252-7825 to speak with a ticket representative.
