Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Missouri - The Rapid City Rush won their 10th straight game, 2-1, Tuesday night over the Missouri Mavericks at Independence Events Center. Mavericks' goaltender Alexandre Vincent stopped 39 of 41 shots, but Missouri was unable to stop the streaking Rush. Luke Erickson and Les Reaney scored goals for the Rush and Nick Sirota had the Mavericks only marker of the game. Missouri (10-12-1) will travel to Colorado for a pair of games this weekend against the Northern Conference-leading Eagles.

"We had a great goaltending performance by Vincent," said Mavericks' Head Coach Alexandre Vincent. "We had two big mistakes that cost us the game tonight."

The teams skated to a scoreless first period that saw the Rush outshoot the Mavericks 16-7. Vincent stopped all 16 Rapid City shots in the period that included three power play chances for Rapid City.

Reaney gave the Rush a 1-0 lead at the 2:13 mark of the second period when he picked up a loose puck in the slot, wheeled around and slipped a shot past Vincent. Blaine Jarvis earned the lone assist on Reaney's 13th goal of the season.

Missouri tied the game exactly eight minutes later when Sirota came into the Rush zone along the left wing and blasted a shot past goaltender Danny Battochio. It marked Sirota's fourth goal of the season and Derek Pallardy earned an assist on the play.

After two periods, the team's remained tied, and the Rush continued to hold the edge in shots at 27-19.

It was a back-and-forth third period until the Mavericks took a couple penalties midway through the final frame. Missouri killed the first penalty to Carlyle Lewis, but couldn't kill Karl Sellan's roughing penalty. Erickson tipped a Jamie VanderVeeken shot past Vincent to give the Rush a 2-1 lead at the 12:08 mark.

Missouri earned a power play at 15:40, but couldn't convert on a few quality scoring chances and the Rush escaped with their 10th straight victory.

Battochio stopped 28 of 29 shots for Rapid City who is now 4-0-0 against the Mavericks this season.

Missouri's next home game is Tuesday, December 22 against the Laredo Bucks at 7:05 p.m. at Independence Events Center. It is a Price Chopper "Two-for-Tuesday" game in which fans can purchase one terrace or club level ticket and get one free. The tickets must be purchased at the Box Office on the day of the game, and fans must show their Chopper Shopper card. For more information, visit www.MissouriMavericks.com.
