
Bucks Sign Top SPHL Goaltender Sibbald

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Tuesday that they have signed goaltender Mark Sibbald. The Bucks called up Sibbald from the Hunstville Havoc (SPHL).
The 25-year-old Sibbald (pro-nounced si-BALD) was the SPHL Player of the Month for November, and is the top rated goaltender in the league with a 10-0-1 record, along with a 1.61 G.A.A and a .951 sv. %. Sibbald was just named SPHL Player of the Week Tuesday.
"Mark Sibbald is a very talented goaltender and he will be a big addition to our team," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He's at the top of the SPHL in a lot of categories, we think he will be a solid fit to our club."
Laredo's number one goaltender J.P Levasseur was called up to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League on Monday.
Sibbald, a native of Ridgeway, Ontario, has allowed just 18 goals in 11 games this season and has one shutout. Sibbald stopped all 26 shots in the Havoc's 3-0 win over Pensacola on December 4th.
The 5'11'', 185 pound Sibbald has not lost in regulation yet this season for Huntsville, with his only blemish a 4-3 overtime loss to Pensacola on November 12. Sibbald has allowed one or fewer goals in a game six times this season, including his shutout on December 4th.
Sibbald has stopped 40 or more shots in a game twice this season, and has stopped 30 or more shots six times this season.
Sibbald Played in 24 games at Brown University from 2005-2009, where he finished with a 3.45 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.
Prior to playing in college Sibbald played in 59 games for the Vernon Vipers (BCHL) from 2003-2005, where he finished with a 35-16-3 record, a 2.64 goals against average and a .914 save percentage.

The Bucks placed defenseman Jeremy Swanson on the 14-day IR retroactive to December 12th.
Swanson suffered a lower body injury in Saturday's 4-2 loss at Allen.
The 25-year-old Swanson has put up seven points (1-6=7) in 18 games for the Bucks this season.
