INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Missouri Mavericks are looking to avenge their opening night 6-3 loss last night to the Allen Americans and earn a split of their weekend series at Allen. Today is the only game in the ECHL and the Mavericks' second of three straight on the road to start the season.

CHECKING THE RIVALRY

The Mavericks are facing the Americans tonight for the second of 13 meetings this season and the second of seven at the Allen Events Center. Missouri has a 7-12-2 all-time ECHL record against Allen, including a 4-7-1 record on the road. Tonight the Mavericks are looking to avenge a 6-3 loss in the season opener last night. Missouri poured 47 shots on goal but only managed to get three past Riley Gill. The Mavericks posted a 6-5-0 regular season record against the Americans last season, which included a 3-3-0 mark in Allen. The Mavericks last won in Allen by a 3-1 count on March 27, 2016. Josh Robinson paved the way with 41 saves in the win, while Reed Seckel's eighth goal of the season opened the scoring.

YOUTH IS SERVED

The Missouri Mavericks' opening night roster was an ode to youth. Of the 18 players the Mavericks dressed, eight of them were rookies. Two of them - Darren Nowick and Justin Selman - earned assists in their season debuts, but each garnered pro experience last season by playing on amateur tryout contracts. The youngest Mavericks on the roster - 20-year-olds Lukas Lofquist and Dmitrii Sergeev - are still awaiting their chances to make their professional debuts. The average age of the Mavericks is 24.05 years old.
