Mavericks assign Marshall to Flyers

DALLAS, December 29 - The Dallas Mavericks announced today they have assigned guard/forward Rawle Marshall to the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League. The Flyers were assigned as the Mavericks' D-League affiliate for the 2005-06 season.

Marshall (6-7, 190) played four games with the Mavericks this season. He averaged 0.8 points and 0.5 rebounds in 2.5 minutes per game.

Marshall is the 10th NBA player to be assigned to a D-League affiliate this season. The complete list of designated players follows:

Marshall played with the Mavericks on the 2005 Rocky Mountain Revue after appearing in four games for the Memphis Grizzlies in the Southern California Summer Pro League. In the five games with Dallas, he averaged 10.6 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in a team-high 27.4 minutes per game. Marshall also averaged 1.80 steals per game, which ranked him third among all players in the Rocky Mountain Revue.

After playing sparingly in his freshman season at Ball State, Marshall transferred to Oakland University where he averaged 18.6 points over his final three collegiate seasons. Marshall was an All-Mid-Continent First Team selection in 2003 and 2005 and a Second Team pick in 2004. As a senior, Marshall averaged team-highs of 19.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.25 blocks and 1.84 steals in 36.2 minutes per game.

Marshall was named MVP of the 2005 Mid-Con Tournament after averaging 20.0 points and 11.0 rebounds to lead Oakland to its first Mid-Con title. He scored 26 points against Alabama A&M in the NCAA Tournament play-in game and tallied 16 points and five rebounds in a first-round loss to eventual National Champion North Carolina. Marshall also competed in the 17th Annual Mountain Dew College Slam Dunk Championship back in late March.

The Flyers travel to Arkansas tomorrow to take on the RimRockers at 7:30 p.m. CT.
