Club Deportivo Chivas USA News Release

Carson, Calif. (Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013) - Chivas USA announced today that the club has acquired midfielder Mauro Rosales in exchange for the rights of forward Tristan Bowen and its No. 2 allocation ranking. The Red-and-White will receive Seattle's No. 13 allocation ranking. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed.

Mauro Rosales joins the Red-and-White after three full seasons with Seattle Sounders FC. While with the Sounders, Rosales played a total of 86 games (73 starts), scoring 12 goals and adding 34 assists. In 2013, Rosales led Sounders FC with eight assists and 33 appearances, adding four goals. In his first year in MLS, the 32-year old midfielder was named MLS Newcomer of the Year.

Prior to joining Sounders FC, Rosales spent time with Argentina powerhouse River Plate (2007-2010) and Newell's Old Boys (1999-2004), as well as Holland's AFC Ajax (2004-2007). On an international level, Rosales was part of his native Argentina's U20 National Team that won the 2001 FIFA World Youth Championship, and later earned a gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens with the Argentine National Team.

"Chivas is the team that has trusted me to help with what I've done in my last club, Seattle," Rosales said. "Obviously I'm grateful for that confidence, and what the team is giving and betting on for next season.

"What [Chivas] wants to have next season is a great team and to get to the playoffs, which is something that everyone wants."

Chivas USA would like to thank forward Tristan Bowen for his dedication to the Rebaño Angelino and wish him good luck in his future endeavors, and welcome Mauro Rosales to the Red-and-White family.
