Fayetteville Woodpeckers News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville Woodpeckers announced today that they have welcomed Maura Sheridan to their broadcast team for the 2019 campaign. Maura will join Matt Sabados in the broadcast booth during the Woodpeckers inaugural season for all 70 home and select road contests.
"I'm thrilled to work with Maura in the booth," said Sabados, "not only was she the best all-around candidate that came forward, she's a product of one of the best broadcasting schools in the nation, and I know she'll do Syracuse proud with her work on and off the air this season, I don't doubt it."
Maura makes her way to Fayetteville after spending the winter in her home state of Vermont, serving as the play-by-play voice for the University of Vermont women's basketball team. With the Catamounts, Maura handled all aspects of the live broadcast and assisted in the sports information sector for the team. Prior to her work in Burlington, Maura spent a summer working in the prestigious Cape Cod League, calling games over the radio, on TV, and reporting field side for the Brewster Whitecaps.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Maura spent four years on the renowned student-run WAER, operating everything from live sports productions to calling play-by-play for Syracuse athletics, and eventually moving on camera with ACC Network Extra, appearing on broadcasts for Lacrosse, Field Hockey, and Basketball.
