North Carolina FC News Release

Cary, NC (Tuesday, September 30, 2008) - The United Soccer Leagues announced the First Division All-League Teams today and RailHawks midfielder Matthew Watson was named to the All-League Second Team. The recipient of the 2008 RailHawks MVP Award, Watson follows in the footsteps of Kupono Low who was the 2007 RailHawks MVP and was on the USL-1 All-League Second Team.

"This is a very deserving award for an excellent player," said RailHawks Head Coach Scott Schweitzer. "Watson is an outstanding person who is at the beginning of many professional and personal accolades in his soccer career."

Watson's addition to the team for the 2008 season has been a vital key to the team's success. A hard working midfielder, his wizardry on the ball has entertained countless RailHawks fans and given fits to opposing teams. Having played injured most of the year, his determination to get on the field has been an admirable quality, while always keeping the best interest of the team in mind.

Watson was recently profiled on ESPN Soccernet as one of the USL players to watch this season and has enjoyed a phenomenal season with one goal and four assists while helping shape the RailHawks midfield and offense. He was named to the USL-1 Team of the Week three times in 2008 for his exceptional performances on the field.

The RailHawks continue to be active in this off-season with work in the community by visiting schools and stressing the importance of staying fit and healthy. The RailHawks 2009 season ticket drive is underway and for the occasion the RailHawks are offering an all-inclusive season ticket package that includes all pre-season, exhibition, regular season, US Open Cup and playoff matches for one low price.
