
Timbers' Knowles Captures All-League Honors

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Timbers defender Cameron Knowles was selected to the USL First Division All-League Second Team, it was announced today by United Soccer Leagues. It is Knowles' second All-League selection since joining the Timbers in 2007.
In 2008, Knowles, 25, ranked among team leaders in games played (29) and set a new modern-franchise record for minutes played in a single season at 2,610, a total that ranked sixth among league leaders. The New Zealand native received first-team honors last season after anchoring a backline that allowed just 18 goals and recorded 14 shutouts in 2007.
In two seasons with Portland, Knowles has played in 57 regular-season matches, totaling 5,130 minutes, two goals and one assist.
The Vancouver Whitecaps received the most All-League selections with four. Additionally, the USL announced that Puerto Rico Islanders goalkeeper Bill Gaudette was named the league's 2008 Goalkeeper of the Year. All-League selections were voted on by USL First Division coaches and general managers.
