Bismarck Bobcats News Release

The Bismarck Bobcat are pleased to announce that Matt Perry, Lakeville, MN has committed to play collegiate hockey at the US Air Force Academy. Matt is a first year Bobcat, who played high school hockey at St Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, MN. At St Thomas his greatest accomplishment may have been scoring nine points in 2013 Minnesota State Tournament including a hat trick in the State Championship game to lead the Cadets to victory.

"Matt is a very talented hockey player, with good speed and great skills with the puck. As important he is a terrific young man and going to Air Force to school and to play hockey is a great reward for his efforts" Says Head Coach Layne Sedevie. "The dedication that he shows both on and off the ice is the reason for this accomplishment".

Coach Garrett Roth attributes his success to doing the little things right to be a D-1 Hockey player. "He has really good work habits and his confidence is growing every game as we get into the playoff run".

"I want to thank a lot of people, my family in particular, as well as my coaches over the years. I have really enjoyed playing in Bismarck and really would not have wanted to play anywhere else," Says Matt, "The fans are great, the city is nice and the Coaches Sedevie, Roth and Peluso as well as the intense training facilities have really helped me develop this year. I have wanted to be a Cadet for a long time and am excited about the opportunity to collegiate hockey while also getting a great experience."

Matt is the seventh Bobcat, including one alumni, John Furgele, to be awarded a Division I Scholarship this season.
