Aberdeen Wings News Release

The Aberdeen Wings traveled over 1,200 miles for their final regular season series. Friday night, taking on the Wenatchee Wild, the Wings came into the game after winning 9 straight.

The first period saw Parker Tuomie of the Wenatchee Wild get his team on the board first with a goal at the 5:04 mark on the power play. The Wild would outshoot the Wings 8-4 in the first.

Special teams would play a key role in the game as Wenatchee would get another power play goal at the 3:56 mark in the 2nd period from David Powlowski. But the Wings wouldn't sit down. After a penalty by Wenatchee, the Wings would score a power play goal of their own off the stick of #21 Bjorn Sigurdarson (F-Reykjavik, Iceland) with assists from #15 Jordan Heller (F-Bemidji, MN) and #4 Jake Horton (D-Plymouth, MN). 2nd period would end 2-1 with Wenatchee leading.

In the third period, the Wings would push right away to tie things up. At the 2:13 mark, Wings defenseman #10 Tanner Okeson (D-Roseau, MN) would score thanks to assists from #24 Jonathan Grebosky (F-Pittsburgh, PA) and #27 Erik Baskin (F-Minnetonka, MN). The Wings would battle the rest of the way to send the game into overtime. By getting a point through an overtime appearance, the Wenatchee Wild clinched their spot in the 2014 NAHL Playoffs.

A good portion through the overtime period, the Wings would win on a tip-in goal from #20 Dillon Eichstadt (D-Bemidji, MN) with an assist to #4 Jake Horton.

The Wings improve their winning streak to 10 games and will take on Wenatchee Saturday night as well.
