
Matt Dumba Signs One-Year Deal with Arizona Coyotes

Portland Winterhawks alumnus Matt Dumba signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Dumba, 29, has spent the entirety of his ten-year career with the Minnesota Wild. A veteran of 598 career NHL games, Dumba served the last two seasons as an alternate captain with the Wild. Dumba has recorded 20 or more points in seven of his last eight seasons, including a career high 50 points in 82 games during the 2017-18 season.
The Regina, SK native received the 2020 King Clancy Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice, and was named a finalist for the 2021 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, given to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey.
On the international stage, Dumba has medaled three times with Team Canada, including most recently capturing gold at the 2016 IIHF World Championships. During his junior playing days, Dumba was also named the Best Defenseman at the 2012 IIHF World U18 Championship, pacing Canada in scoring with five goals and seven assists in seven games en route to a bronze medal.
Dumba played in Portland during the 2013-14 season and scored 24 points in 26 games. He helped the Winterhawks advance to the 2014 WHL Championship series where he ranked second among all WHL blueliners with 18 points in 21 playoff games.
Dumba was originally selected by the Wild with the seventh overall selection in the 2012 NHL Draft.
