Miami FC News Release
Former Italy international Luca Antonelli could be manning the back line for Miami FC against younger defensive counterpart Ben Ofeimu of Birmingham Legion FC when the sides square off at FIU Stadium on Wednesday night.
MIAMI - Miami FC and Birmingham Legion FC will meet for the second time in their histories on Wednesday night on ESPN Deportes with both teams looking to get back into the win column at FIU Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
@TheMiamiFC (3-4-1, 10pts) is looking to break a three-game winless streak as it returns home after suffering a 2-1 defeat to the Charleston Battery on Friday night at Patriots Point that saw Jamaican international Lamar Walker score an early goal only for the hosts to rally for victory. Miami's most recent win came on May 29 as they defeated the Charlotte Independence 2-1, but the side has taken only one point from three games this month to drop out of the top four in the Atlantic Division. The side did see the return to action on Friday of midfielder Speedy Williams, who along with Walker was named in the preliminary roster for Jamaica ahead of the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup next month, but with the potential for absences due to that tournament Miami will want to take advantage of its full-strength squad against a solid Legion FC side.
@BHMLegion (5-3-1, 16pts) will head to Miami after seeing its most recent outing on Saturday night washed out midway through the first half against Austin Bold FC at BBVA Field, with the game set to be rescheduled and played in full at a future date after heavy rain caused a waterlogged playing surface. Birmingham has been in strong form overall this season, though, even after suffering a 2-0 loss to Louisville City FC in its last official outing last Wednesday night. Legion FC had recorded four consecutive wins prior to that contest, with forward Neco Brett sitting tied for the league lead with six goals, and the side will have good memories of its prior trip to Miami that saw Brett and Alex Crognale each score twice in a 4-0 win at FIU Stadium.
