Real Monarchs Visit Tacoma Defiance

HERRIMAN, Utah - Real Monarchs travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Tacoma Defiance at Cheney Stadium on Wednesday, June 23 in the team's second of three matches in an eight-day period. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. MT and can be streamed live on ESPN+.

Records: Real Monarchs (1-5-2, 5 points); Tacoma Defiance (2-3-1, 7 points)

Head-to-Head: Real Monarchs have the advantage over Tacoma Defiance with an all-time record of 9-2-1 in 12 matches played, including a plus 15 goal differential.

The previous match between the sides ended in a 1-0 victory for the Monarchs at Zions Bank Stadium on September 4, 2020.

Connections: Tacoma Defiance goalkeeper Christian Herrera began his professional career with the Real Monarchs from 2015-17 after attending the RSL-AZ Academy the previous three seasons. However, during his time with the Monarchs, Herrera spent the 2016 season on loan with Pachuca II in Mexico and the 2017 season on loan with Portland Timbers 2.

Notes: In what will be the 13th meeting between the sides, the Monarchs will look to earn its first road victory of the season against a Tacoma side that is undefeated at home in 2021. Real Monarchs are 26-44-15 all-time on the road, while Tacoma Defiance is 12-10-3 all-time at home.
