Sacramento Republic FC News Release
Sacramento Republic FC continue their 2016 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign when they host the Kitsap Pumas (PDL) on Wednesday, June 1. Kickoff is 8 p.m. PDT at Bonney Field. Gates open at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets to the match are included in the 2016 Republic FC season ticket package and may be downloaded and printed via MyAccountManager. Single match tickets to the match are available on Ticketmaster.com.
Republic FC advanced to the Third Round of the U.S. Open Cup after defeating CD Aguiluchos USA (NPSL) 5-0 on May 18. It was Republic FC's third straight season advancing to the Third Round. The Kitsap Pumas advanced to the Third Round after defeating Seattle Sounders U23s 1-0 on May 18.
Five different players scored in Republic FC's Second Round victory over Aguiluchos. Alfonso Motagalvan, Mackenzie Pridham, Carlos Rodriguez, Thomas Stewart and Max Alvarez all scored in the match, with Motagalvan, Pridham, Rodriguez and Alvarez's goals being their first of the season.
In addition to his goal, Alvarez also recorded two assists. This was the second time that Alvarez has recorded two or more assists in the same match; on Aug. 17, 2014, he recorded three assists in Republic FC's 6-1 victory over Orange County Blues FC. A Republic FC player has record two or more assists in a single match just six times in franchise history, Alvarez is the only player to have achieved the feat more than once.
Republic FC forward Joaquin Rivas will face his former club for the first time since leaving the Pumas to join Republic FC in 2015. Rivas appeared in 17 matches for the Pumas in 2014, scoring six goals and recording two assists.
The Pumas finished a busy month of May with a record of 2-2-2. They are led by midfielder Jesus Sanchez and forward Mike Ramos. Sanchez has recorded a goal and an assist in four PDL matches, while Ramos has scored a club leading two PDL goals.
21-year old Pumas midfielder Mikhail Doholis is the 26th ranked prospect currently playing in the PDL. Doholis joined the Pumas following his career at Oregon State University. He was also a member of the U-17 U.S. Soccer Residency Program as a teenager.
The match will be broadcast on KHTK Sports 1140, but will not be livestreamed. Updates of the match will be provided via Twitter @SacRepublicFC or using #USOC2016.
