Sacramento Republic FC travels to southern California to take on Orange County Blues FC on Sunday, August 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium. With a win Republic FC will clinch a playoff spot in their inaugural season.
The match is the fourth and final meeting between the two sides this season. In all of the previous matches the home club has come away victorious by a score of 2-1. Republic FC will look to extend their five match unbeaten streak while Orange County look to finish their season strong as they make a final playoff push.
Republic FC comes into the match with six road wins on the season, tied with DaytonDutch Lions FC for most in USL PRO. Republic FC have won their last three matches by a combined score of 9-2 including a 5-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on July 27. Republic FC will look to continue this recent run of success.
Republic FC forward Adam Jahn scored a goal in Republic FC's victory against Oklahoma City Energy FC on August 9. Jahn has scored goals in two of his last three goals raising his total to five, third most in USL PRO play for Republic FC behind Rodrigo Lopez and Thomas Stewart who are tied for first, with seven goals each.
The match will also mark the return of midfielder Rodrigo Lopez who sat out the last match with a hamstring injury. Lopez is the club leader in USL PRO assists with seven and tied for the club lead in goals in USL PRO play also with seven.
Republic FC announced this week the addition of defender James Kiffe who joins the team after spending the USL PDL season with the Ventura County Fusion. Kiffe is eligible to play against Orange County.
The match will be the first in a four-match home-stand to finish the season for Orange County who is looking to make the playoffs for the third time in four years. Orange County has struggled since the last time the two sides met. They have lost seven of their last eight matches overall including their last two home matches.
Orange County is led by midfielder Allan Russell who leads the club in goals with seven and assists with four. Forward Christopher Cortez has also showed that he can score, recording five goals on the season.
Orange County have also made a multiple roster moves recently including the signings of Thomas Garner, Alex Martinez, Brenton Griffiths, Marco Franco and Erlys Garcia.
