Louisville City FC News Release
Louisville, KY (July 16, 2015) - After three straight wins at home Louisville City FC (8-3-5) will return to Highmark Stadium to take on the Pittsburgh Riverhounds (7-6-4). The match, set to kickoff at 7:oo pm on Saturday will be the first of a three game road swing for Louisville.
The first match between the two clubs back on April 19th resulted in a 1-1 draw. Fejiro Okiamah got Pittsburgh on the board in the 37th minute. In a match that looked like it would be City's first loss in franchise history, Kadeem Dacres equalized in stoppage time with a left-footed curler.
Louisville is coming off a 1-0 victory, avenging their loss to Charlotte earlier in the year. Magnus Rasmussen took a penalty kick off a hand ball in the box that punished the right side of the net giving City the advantage. The match also tested Louisville's durability as Charlotte had multiple chances, but Man of the Match Scott Goodwin stopped them and the team gritted out the victory. For Goodwin and Lou City, it was the seventh clean sheet of the 2015 season.
Pittsburgh is coming off a 4-2 loss to FC Montreal after giving up three second half goals. The Riverhounds got their offense from Boris Zivanovic and Rob Vincent who scored their two goals. The Hounds have scored 35 goals, good for most in the USL, and haven't been held scoreless at home this year. The league's best offense hasn't taken a loss at home since a 2-1 defeat to the Rochester Rhinos on April 4th.
With Louisville City being second in goals allowed with 14, Saturday's match will feature the best offense versus one of the best defenses. It's the making of another prime matchup in USL play, and the Louisville Coopers will be hosting a watch party at Against the Grain for fans wanting to watch it with fellow Lou City supporters.
Louisville City has also recently announced the availability of the 3-match pack which includes the Orlando City match on August 25th and two big USL match-ups on August 22 and September 2
