Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - The Philadelphia Union return to Talen Energy Stadium to take on Orlando City SC for Friday's Eastern Conference matchup. This contest features two teams at the top of the table in the Eastern Conference. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. (EST) and will be televised live nationally on UniMás.
The Union are unbeaten 1-0-1 all-time against Orlando City in MLS play. In the lone match at Talen Energy Stadium, Philadelphia came away with a 1-0 victory on Oct. 25, 2015 thanks to a Sebastien Le Toux penalty kick in the 41st minute and a shutout performance from Andre Blake. The other contest saw a 0-0 draw at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Aug. 8, 2015. Philadelphia has never allowed a goal to Orlando City in their young series history.
The Union will look to get back in the win column after falling short in a 1-0 loss to the Chicago Fire in wintry conditions last Saturday. Despite being shutout, Philadelphia managed to out-shoot the Fire 18-10 with C.J. Sapong leading the charge with six. Sapong leads the club with 12 shots this season. Andre Blake has posted a 1.00 GAA in his 2016 campaign and is expected to start on Friday.
Orlando enters Friday's matchup unbeaten on the year with a 2-0-2, most recently defeating the reigning MLS Cup champions in a 4-1 victory on Sunday. Orlando City is coached by Adrian Heath, who won three regular season titles with Orlando in minor league soccer. His club will be without Brek Shea who was suspended by MLS this week for one game after his tackle in the win against Portland. Leading scorer Cyle Larin (hamstring) and Tommy Redding (concussion protocol) are listed as day-to-day.
