HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls are back home on Saturday night to take on Sporting Kansas City at 7 p.m., on Autism Awareness Night at Red Bull Arena.
Coverage of the match is available on MSG 2 and MSG GO beginning at 6:30, with Jonathan Yardley, Shep Messing and Tina Cervasio bringing you the action.
The New York Red Bulls will also provide English and Spanish radio through Red Bulls Radio on TuneIn. Matt Harmon hosts the English broadcast, beginning at 6 p.m. with Countdown to Kickoff. Red Bulls Insider Eric Giacometti will join Harmon for match coverage. Ernesto Motta will provide play-by-play on the Spanish station beginning at 7 p.m.
Red Bull Arena will be fully activated to support Autism Awareness Night, which will include the venue's security staff being trained on how to work with children and adults affected with Autism; a dedicated entrance at Gate C to ensure easy ingress for families; a dedicated Quiet Zone to provide those in the autism community with a sensory friendly and judgment free environment; the national anthem singer will be a person affected by Autism; the photo booth in the "BULLevard" area will have an Autism Awareness theme; players to wear Autism Awareness themed items on the pitch; limited-edition matchday poster with Autism Awareness theme will be given to first 5,000 fans.
The Red Bulls will partner with Autism Speaks, the world's leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a possible cure for Autism.
New York enters at 1-3-0 after falling to New England on the road, 1-0 last Friday night. The Red Bulls surrendered a 55th minute goal, with center back Kemar Lawrence needing to be taken off the field with injury after the play.
Red Bulls midfielder Felipe will miss the match after being issued a red card in the 61st minute against the Revolution.
The Red Bulls are 20-19-13 all-time against Sporting Kansas City, including an 11-5-8 mark at home. New York is 3-2-1 against Sporting in the regular season since Red Bull Arena opened in 2010. The Red Bulls also defeated Kansas City, 2-1 at home, in the knockout round of the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Bradley Wright-Phillips has six goals in five career games against Kansas City. Wright-Phillips torched SKC at the end of the 2014 season, scoring two goals to tie the MLS scoring record on the final day of the regular season, and then netting another two days later to lead New York to a 2-1 victory over Sporting in the knockout round of the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Sporting Kansas City enters at 3-1-0, having suffered their first lost of the season last week, a 3-1 defeat to Real Salt Lake. Kansas City opened the season 3-0-0. The team is 1-0-0 on the road this season, having opened the campaign with a win at Seattle Sounders FC in week one. Dom Dwyer leads Kansas City in scoring with two goals and an assist.
After Saturday, New York heads out for an extended road trip with matches at San Jose on Wednesday, April 13 and at Colorado on Saturday, April 16. New York is next home on Sunday, April 24 to face Orlando City SC at 7:30 p.m.
