
Match Preview: Carolina RailHawks at New York Cosmos

CARY, NC - The Carolina RailHawks (4W-0D-0L, 12 pts) are attempting to extend their undefeated season as they travel to New York to take on reigning NASL Champions, New York Cosmos (2W-0D-2L, 6pts) on Sunday, May 1st at 6:00pm EST. Fans can watch it live locally in the Triangle on WRAL2 and regionally in North and South Carolina on TWC SportsChannel. Saturday's match will also be broadcast nationally on One World Sports.
"We've had a great start to the season, and we are really looking forward to our match against the Cosmos," said RailHawks Head Coach Colin Clarke. "They are the reigning NASL Champions and we've had really competitive matches against them. We are going to New York with the belief that we can get a positive result this weekend. Our goal is to continue our undefeated run until the end of the spring season and beyond."
Last Saturday's match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies was highlighted by Alex Perez, James Marcelin and Brian Shriver scoring their first goals of the season. Also, Nick Taitague, a 17-year-old amateur and member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team, made his debut becoming the youngest player ever to appear in a Carolina RailHawks match.
The Cosmos on the other side, are coming back to their home turf after suffering two back-to-back last minute defeats at the hands of Indy Eleven and Minnesota United FC.
The RailHawks and the Cosmos have been known for playing very competitive matches over the last several seasons. Since the Cosmos return to the NASL, the teams have faced each other eight times. The RailHawks have earned four wins, the Cosmos three wins, and the teams have split one tie.
Following Sunday's match, the RailHawks will return to WakeMed Soccer on Saturday, May 7, 2016 to take on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
