Seattle Reign FC News Release

SEATTLE (May 8, 2015) - Seattle Reign FC (2-2-0, 6 pts) looks to pick up its first road points of the 2015 season on Saturday, May 9, with a matchup against Sky Blue FC (1-2-1, 4 pts). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, N.J., with a live, high-definition webstream available at YouTube.com/NWSL.

Last weekend, Seattle snapped a two-game losing streak with a 3-1 victory at home over the Washington Spirit, with forwards Beverly Yanez and Merritt Mathias, and midfielder Jessica Fishlock notching goals in the effort.

While Reign FC has yet to drop points at home, the team is still searching for its first road points of the season, after a 3-2 stoppage-time loss to the Chicago Red Stars on April 18, and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of FC Kansas City five days later.

After winning its season opener over Kansas City 1-0 on April 12, Sky Blue FC has picked up just one point in its last three matches. The team played the Houston Dash to a 1-1 draw on April 18, and has since followed that with losses to the Spirit on April 26, and the Red Stars on May 2, by 3-1 and 1-0 margins respectively.

Amateur players Mele French and Caroline Stanley will provide Reign FC with roster depth as forward Megan Rapinoe and goalkeeper Hope Solo train with the U.S. Women's National Team.

While Seattle will be without Rapinoe and Solo, Sky Blue FC will have a much thinner roster due to preparations for the Women's World Cup.

U.S. defenders Kelly O'Hara and Christine Rampone, Mexican forward Monica Ocampo, Canadian forward Janelle Filigno, and Australian players defender Caitlin Foord and forward Samantha Kerr will all be out of the lineup for Saturday's game.

Key returnees from last season expected to be available on Saturday for Sky Blue include midfielder Katy Freels - who leads the team with two goals through four games - and Danish international Nadia Nadim.

Despite the absence of several key contributors, Sky Blue FC has still seen consistency in its lineup, with seven players starting each of the team's four games.

In 2014, Reign FC posted a 2-0-1 record against Sky Blue FC.

Reign FC won both road matches - a 2-0 win on April 30, 2014, in which Yanez tallied her first goal of the 2014 season, and a 3-1 victory on June 1 - but the teams played to a scoreless tie in Seattle on June 28.

Saturday's game will be the first of three regular season matchups between Reign FC and Sky Blue. The two sides will face off Saturday, June 6, and Saturday, August 29 on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff for both of those matches is set for 7 p.m. PT.
