Piscataway, N.J. (Friday, May 8, 2015) - Sky Blue FC (1-2-1, 4 points) will return home to New Jersey on Saturday night, welcoming Seattle Reign FC (2-2-0, 6 points) to Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway. Kickoff for the match is slated for 7:00 PM.
"We have faced some really tough challenges in all of our games so far this year, and that has helped us grow as a team," said Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Technical Director & Head Coach. "Seattle is the defending Shield winners and a team that has been playing very well together for the better part of over a year now. They are minimally affected by the World Cup, so we are looking forward to this challenge. We have had a really good week of training and fixing some things, and we expect to give a much better performance on Saturday night."
Sky Blue FC returns home to Yurcak Field after battling the Chicago Red Stars to a tight 1-0 defeat last weekend on the road. Defender Kristin Grubka nearly leveled the count in the 87th minute of that contest when she hit a diving header on frame following a free kick from Shawna Gordon. Seattle enters this game on the heels of a 3-1 victory over the Washington Freedom, which brought a two-match losing streak to a close. Thus far this season, they have won both of their home contests and fallen in both of their road matches.
Following Saturday night, Sky Blue FC will be home just one time before the final weekend of June. Part of that time includes a break by the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) during the Group Stage of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Individual and group tickets for Saturday night are on sale now. Additionally, fans can add $5 to any ticket price for an exclusive meet-and-greet with Brittany Cameron and Shawna Gordon after the game.
