September 18, 2018 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Kelowna Rockets had some fun on Monday night competing in their own version of Master Chef.
Split into five teams of five, players battled against one another to win the judges over in a taste contest!
Rules for the contest went as follows:
Players will be grouped into teams of 4-5
Each group will be provided $50 to purchase food for their specific dish (Which they decide). Non-school players will be required to purchase the food prior to the competition
Each team will have 35 minutes to create their dish after which they present their finished product to a panel of coaches who will score each dish to determine which team is the victor
With the money, teams must budget appropriately in order to prepare one dish for the coaches to judge and enough additional food for each team member to eat
A prize will be awarded to the winning team. Each coach will rank the dish on a scale of 1-5 (5 being the highest) for a cumulative score
Teams were split up like this:
Team 1: Dallon Wilton, Nolan Foote, Ted Brennan, Braydyn Chizen, Cayde Augustine
Team 2: Mark Liwiski, Wil Kushniryk, Kaedan Korczak, Roman Basran, Conner Bruggen-Cate
*Team 3: Devin Steffler, Jack Cowell, Liam Kindree, Libor Zabransky*
Team 4: Ethan Ersnt, Leif Mattson, Kyle Pow, James Porter, Ryan Bowen
Team 5: Kyle Crosbie, Erik Gardiner, Kelvin Hair, Lassi Thomson, Kyle Topping

Team 4 made a pork schnitzel with potatoes and asparagus. And finally, team 5 made a crispy chicken sandwich.
The coaches did their testing and determined team 3 consisting of Steffler, Cowell, Kindree, and Zabransky to be victorious scoring 139 out of a possible 210 points with their chicken alfredo.
The boys were out of the kitchen and back onto the ice on Tuesday for practice ahead of their season opening weekend.
