
Marty Brown Sets Bisons Modern Era Record for Wins

MARTY BROWN has won his 254th game as a manager of the Buffalo Bisons today to become the winningest manager in the team's modern era. With the Herd's 5-3 win in Rochester today, Brown passed Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer Brian Graham (253) for the most wins since the team's return to Triple-A baseball.
Sunday's win was also the 16th win for the Bisons on the season. That's the most wins they've had in April in the modern era.
Brown is in his second tenure with the Bisons, making the transition from Las Vegas where he managed the Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate for each of the past two seasons. At 16-6, the Bisons have the best record in the International League this season.
Brown first came to Buffalo in 2003 a posted a 73-70 record in his first season with the Herd. In 2004, he was named International League Manager of the Year and Baseball America's Minor League Manager of the Year for guiding the Bisons to a Governors' Cup Championship. The 2004 Bisons finished 83-61 despite using 67 different players and being five outs away from the worst record in the league in May. In 2005, Brown's Bisons went 82-62 and captured a second consecutive IL North division title.
In his three plus seasons with the Bisons, Brown has a record of 254-199 for a .561 winning percentage.
Brown began his managerial career in 1997 with Single-A Erie of the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. In 16+ seasons as a manager, Brown has posted a 1,117-1,110 record. That record includes five seasons managing in Japan from 2006-2010.
