Today's Game:

The Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of a four-game series at Frontier Field (1:05 p.m.). Despite yesterday's loss, the Herd has still won 11 of its last 13 games. The Bisons enter today's game 9-2 on the road this season.

The Thruway Cup

The Bisons are 3-2 against the Red Wings and lead the 2013 Thruway Cup standings with a 7-4 record. However, Rochester has won the its last four Thruway Cup games to pull within a game at 5-4. Syracuse is in third place with a 3-7 mark in their I-90 contests.

What Brown does for us

Today, MARTY BROWN gets his second crack at setting the Bisons modern era record for managerial wins. Brown has 253 career victories at the helm of the Bisons, tied with Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer Brian Graham for the most managerial victories.

Gonzalez

RHP EDGAR GONZALEZ will make his third start of the season today. The veteran allowed three runs over 5.1 innings in a no-decision on Tuesday in Pawtucket. The righty struck out four and walked one. This is Gonzalez's first career start against the Red Wings.

Mound Work

Bisons pitchers have dropped their team ERA almost two runs over the last nine games. After posting a 5.72 ERA in the first 12 games of 2013, Herd pitchers have combined to post a 1.88 ERA since April 20. The group has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of the last nine games and has 65 strikeouts to 59 hits allowed in 72.0 innings.

Jimenez

INF LUIS JIMENEZ is one of three IL batters to bring a 10-game hit streak into play today. The slugger has averaged .474 (18-38) since April 17. Jimenez is tied for the IL lead with 23 RBI and is hitting .464 with runners in scoring position this year. Jimenez has knocked in 18 runs in his last nine games.

Bisons Bits

Bisons hitters have struck out 38 times less than any other IL team...Both Bisons lefty relievers JUAN PEREZ and ALEX HINSHAW have held opposing lefties hitless in 10 at-bats...INF JIM NEGRYCH (1.300), INF MAURO GOMEZ (1.145) and INF LUIS JIMENEZ (1.125) are 1-2-3 in the International League in OPS.

The Yankees rallied for a 5-4 win over Toronto (9-16) on Saturday. Both INF JOSE BATISTA and INF BRETT LAWRIE homered for the Blue Jays in the loss. Toronto looks to avoid the sweep with former Bisons RHP R.A. DICKEY on the mound for a 1:05 p.m. game from the Bronx
