Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs knocked off the Muskegon Fury Saturday night, 3-1 at the Rockford MetroCentre in front of 3,939. The win was IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson's 450 career win behind the bench. IceHogs goalie Michel Robinson turned away 31 Fury shots to pick up the win in net.

After a scoreless first period the IceHogs quick strike offense scored two goals in a 54-second span. The first was fired home by Jason Ralph at the 2:47 mark of the second period, set up by defenseman Ryan Bonni and Cory Laylin. Then, less than a minute later Olivier Proulx tipped in the Hogs second tally after Terry Harrison dug the puck out of the corner.

Before the period ended however, Muskegon would jump on the board the best way they know how. On the power play, winger Robin Bouchard slapped in a clear out pass from Ryan Bonni that hit IceHogs center J.C. Ruid, past Robinson at 15:59. But for the second straight meeting, Muskegon could only muster one goal, both on the power play.

In the final frame Rockford put the game away when Harrison picked up his own rebound and capitalized on a second opportunity at 3:01 of the third period to give Rockford the 3-1 advantage and eventually the win. Harrison and Proulx each contributed a goal and an assist, helping Rockford to their 17 win of the season.

Next Home Game: Sunday, December 13 vs. Kalamazoo Wings. Game time is 3:05 p.m. In a game that was rescheduled from Sunday, November 28, the Wings make their second stop in the Forest City. Sunday is a Family Four Pack Day, that's four tickets, four hot dogs, four soft drinks for only $40. For tickets call (815) 968-5222.
