BRIDGEPORT, CT - Trevor Smith had a goal and an assist and Matt Martin scored the game-winning goal in the shootout as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers defeated the Hartford Wolf Pack, 3-2, Sunday afternoon at the Arena at Harbor Yard. The Sound Tigers won the shootout, 2-1.

Anders Ambuhl put Hartford on the board first, tallying his third goal of the season at the 9:17 into the game. Scott Munroe turned away a shot by Devin DiDiomete but the rebound bounced to a charging Ambuhl who snapped the puck into the top of the net for the only goal of the first period.

Bridgeport's Trevor Smith was denied on two scoring chances late in the first period. First, Greg Moore found Smith with a centering pass in the slot but Matt Zaba gloved down Smith's shot. In the final minute of the frame, Smith tried to poke a rebound through Zaba's legs but the goaltender slammed his pads together just in time.

Hartford took a 2-0 lead 1:41 into the second period as Paul Crowder scored his sixth goal of the season. Michael Sauer fired a shot from the right point which Crowder deflected in front of the net, re-directing the puck past Munroe into the goal.

Smith was finally able to convert a scoring opportunity with 6:42 left in the second period as he scored his eighth goal of the year. James Sixsmith picked up a loose puck behind the Hartford net and found Smith with a pass in the slot. Smith quickly fired a one-timer into the top of the net to make it 2-1.

Andrew MacDonald tied the game for Bridgeport 1:24 into the third period. Dustin Kohn carried the puck into the offensive zone and dropped a pass back to MacDonald who rifled a shot from the right point that beat Zaba. It was MacDonald's second goal of the season.

The shootout remained scoreless until Greg Moore scored in the second round for the Sound Tigers, putting a shot over Zaba's left shoulder. Greg Mauldin and Justin DiBenedetto each hit the cross-bar with chances to extend the Sound Tigers lead.

Corey Locke evened the shootout at one apiece in the fourth round for the Wolf Pack when he skated in and lifted a backhand shot into the top of the net. The shootout continued to the sixth round where Martin sent a wrist-shot from the slot under Zaba's stick to win the game for Bridgeport.

The Sound Tigers held a 42-31 advantage in shots on goal. Munroe made 29 saves to earn the victory for Bridgeport while Zaba stopped 39 shots in the loss for the Wolf Pack.

The Sound Tigers are back in action Wednesday night when they host the Providence Bruins. Face-off at Harbor Yard is set for 7:00 pm. For tickets, please call TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000 or visit www.soundtigers.com.
