
Maron, Ynoa Lead Mets over Cardinals, 5-2

JUPITER, FL - Gabriel Ynoa made his best start of the season and Cam Maron provided nearly all the offense in the St. Lucie Mets' 5-2 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday.
Ynoa shut down the Cardinals over seven strong innings. He allowed just one unearned run while striking out a season best seven. The Cardinals only managed six singles. Three never made it out of the infield.
Maron went 4 for 5 with four RBIs and was a home run shy of the cycle. He put the Mets in front 2-1 with a two-run single in the fourth.
In the ninth the Mets broke the game open. Jairo Perez lifted a sac fly to make it 3-1, then Maron drove a two-run double with two outs to make it 5-1.
Maron also tripled in the sixth.
Ryan Fraser gave up a run in the ninth but pitched two innings without major issues to earn his first save.
Jairo Perez went 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and a run scored. Brandon Nimmo went 2 for 5.
Cardinals starter Michael Mayers took the loss despite giving up just two runs and striking out seven in six innings.
The Mets (30-19) won their sixth consecutive game, a new season high. The have won eight of nine and continue to lead the Florida State League South Division by 2.5 games over the Fort Myers Miracle.
