
Marlins Start Road Trip with Loss

Morehead City, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins suffered a loss at the hands of the Peninsula Pilots on Monday by the score of 12-2. The game served as the first of three consecutive road games for the Marlins, as they will motor through Petersburg, Virginia to play the Generals on Tuesday and Wilson, North Carolina on Wednesday.
Lanky lefthander Kyle Mueller (0-2) trudged through 3.2 innings of work in the start, walking only one batter, but allowing eight runs on eight hits. Jerry Mancuso, Adam Norton, and Anthony O'Brien also registered innings for the Marlins.
Defending Coastal Plain League Player of the Year gave the Marlins a fit with his performance at the plate. Chas Crane went 3-for-5 for the Pilots, scoring two runs. Teammates Chad Pinder and Zac MacAneney were also a combined 5-for-9 with five runs batted in.
The Marlins will be in Virginia again on Tuesday to face the Generals of Petersburg, then to Fulton Memorial Stadium to compete with the Tobs. The next Marlins home promotions will take place when the team hosts the Fayetteville SwampDogs on Thursday. Time Warner Cable will present the Marlins Seat Cushion Giveaway, and it is also a Pepsi Thirsty Thursday. The gates open at 6 p.m., with the official start time being 7:05 p.m.
