Marlins and Generals Suspended, To Be Completed Monday

July 28, 2012 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Morehead City Marlins News Release

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. - The Morehead City Marlins and Petersburg Generals were suspended in the top of the second inning of Saturday evening's contest after one full inning of scoreless baseball at Big Rock Stadium.

Neither team plated a run in the first inning, and after Taylor Buran began the second inning by reaching on a dropped third strike, the field was cleared because of rain and lightening. After a 96 minute rain delay, the game was suspended.

The game will be completed on Monday evening at Petersburg Sports Complex as part of a doubleheader and will continue in the top of the second inning with Buran on first base. The Marlins will be the home team through the completion of that game, and after a 20 minute break between games the teams will play the originally scheduled game as a seven-inning contest.

The Marlins are off tomorrow before traveling to Petersburg Monday evening. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. with the live broadcast on CPL WebPass beginning approximately 10 minutes prior to first pitch.

The Morehead City Marlins are a proud member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league.
