
Markwardt Homers, Claws Take Game Two 6-2 in Aberdeen on Tuesday

ABERDEEN, MD - Hunter Markwardt homered and the BlueClaws earned a double-header split on Tuesday in Aberdeen. The Ironbirds won the opener the conclusion of a game suspended in Lakewood on August 8th 4-2 and the BlueClaws took the nightcap 6-2.
Game Two
Markwardt opened the scoring with a two-run home run in the third inning.
After the IronBirds tied the game in the third, Jersey Shore scored twice in the sixth and twice more in the seventh, the last inning, for a 6-2 win. Nick Matera had an RBI single and Carlos De La Cruz grounded into a double play that allowed a run to score. Nicolas Torres, who had two hits, drove in two with a single in the seventh. Torres has now hit safely in 11 straight games, all 11 he's played with the BlueClaws.
Carlos Reyes (5-1) earned the win with three scoreless innings of relief of starter Manuel Silva. Blake Brown struck out the side in the seventh.
Game One
Aberdeen won the opener 4-2, a game suspended at 0-0 in the third inning in Lakewood on August 8th.
Christoper Cespedes homered in the fifth and Ramon Rodriguez homered in the eighth for the IronBirds. Jose Tortolero had an RBI single and Vito Friscia an RBI double for Jersey Shore.
Nate Fassnacht had two hits for the BlueClaws. Jonas De La Cruz (0-1) gave up three runs in 2.1 innings to take the loss. JP Woodward threw 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.
The BlueClaws are now 47-54 on the year while the IronBirds are 52-50.
