Greenville, S.C. - In game one the Drive couldn't overcome an early deficit while in game two couldn't hold a late lead as they dropped both the suspended game and the regularly scheduled game Tuesday night at Fluor Field.
The Drive haven't been swept in a doubleheader since the opening week of the season against Bowling Green.
Game 1
The Tourists picked up a pair of homers by Wilyer Abreu to extend its lead it built in Asheville on July 17 to win the suspended game, 5-1.
Greenville combined for five hits, one double and one homer. Christian Koss drove in the lone run behind an RBI triple. Jaxx Groshans collected the lone multi-hit performance with a double. Brandon Howlett and Joe Davis also collected a hit.
Yusniel Padron-Artiles took the loss after surrendering three runs on five hits, one homer and two walks over 1.2 innings. He fanned four. Padron-Artiles started the game on July 17.
Juan Pablo Lopez earned the win. The righty hurled 4.0 scoreless innings in relief while fanning seven.
The Tourists scored three runs in the second to take a 3-0 lead on an Alex Holderbach solo homer, Bryan Arias RBI double and Matthew Barefoot RBI double.
They added a run in the fourth behind a solo clout by Wilyer Abreu.
Asheville tacked on one more in the sixth inning on Abreu's second solo homer of the day.
The Drive plated their lone run of the game in the seventh inning. Cole Brannen drew a one out walk. Two batters later, Koss lined a triple to the right-center gap to drive in Brannen.
Game 2
Asheville's Yainer Diaz belted a three-run, go-ahead homer in the sixth inning and held off the Drive late to take game two by a score of 3-2.
The Drive managed just five hits and two homers. Tyler Dearden and Brandon Howlett each stroked solo dingers. Joe Davis compiled the only multi-hit effort of the game with two singles. Wil Dalton also tallied a single.
Padron-Artiles was charged with the tough luck loss. He hurled 5.2 innings and allowed two runs on five hits and one walk with seven strikeouts.
Diosmerky Tavares earned the win after pitching 4.0 innings of one run ball in relief.
The Drive took an early lead in the second inning behind a lead off homer by Howlett. It was his 15th of the year and travelled 391 ft.
However, the Tourists grabbed the lead, 3-1, for good in the top of the sixth inning on a Diaz three-run homer.
Greenville got one of those runs back in the bottom half of the frame. Dearden led off and blasted a solo clout to left-center. It was his team-leading 18th homer of the year.
